What is Google Home?
Google Home is a device that helps control google nest and other Chromecast devices through either the app on the phone or speaking to the device directly. Google home along with Alexa has become part of the smart home era in how its voice recognition works as well as the control the user has through the app.
Concerns over Privacy
Google might be storing everything you say to your Google Home and keeping the recordings forever, just as Alexa does as well. The only conversations that are recorded by Google are when it spoken to through the command “Ok Google.” However, you have the option to tell Google not to store your conversations. Here is how you can keep your recordings from being stored.
You can also choose to have your activity removed automatically by following the below steps:
- Go to the Google Home app on your smart phone.
- Tap your icon in the top-right corner, and then choose My Activity.
- Before your stream of recordings, tap the option that says Choose to delete automatically.
Normally Google home keeps data until you delete it is the default setting, but you can choose to keep either for 3 months or 18 months before it disappears automatically. Google has stated that once the recordings are deleted that they are permanently gone.
